Welcome to Huahine

The rays

The rays

There are several types of rays, but in Huahine, the most common are the leopard ray and the stingray. Many tourists seek out manta rays. They do exist in Huahine but are very rare, unless you are outside the reef. Our rays are smaller and can be seen swimming gracefully around our pontoon. It is also very common to encounter them in the Parea or Tefarerii lagoon, swimming alongside our boats. They often have their mating dance in April or May. We have swum with them at Motu Ara'Ara, but this is very rare. They are generally shy and do not let you approach them easily. In addition, we are not allowed to swim with them.
